Sharon Salinger, Taverns and Drinking in Early America

Dr. Sharon Salinger, a three-fold alumna of UCLA, is Chair of the Department of History at UC Riverside. Among her many awards and achievements, she is a past recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award, the author of To Serve Well and Faithfully (Cambridge University Press, 1987) and, with co-author Carla Gardina Pestana, Inequality in Early America (University Press of New England, 1999). Dr. Salinger will speak on her most recent book, Taverns and Drinking in Early America (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2002), a study of drinking, gender, and sociability in Early America.
