A Man for All Seasons: Sir Thomas More and His Times in Film

As a librarian at the University of California, Riverside since 1983, Nancy Douglas serves as the Head of the Cataloging Department and as the library Subject Selector for Drama, Mass Media, and Film and Visual Culture. She has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the Riverside International Film Festival since 2003 and is the lead Festival Programmer for this year's festival, which will be held February 25-March 6. Nancy is in the process of writing a book on history as portrayed in motion pictures, structured as a chronology of 2000 years of world history. In her lecture, Nancy will discuss the aspects of the films featuring Sir Thomas More, including the way in which Tudor England and the person Thomas More are portrayed. She will show clips from several productions, emphasizing the Academy Award winning 1966 version of A Man for All Seasons (Columbia Studios), starring Paul Scofield. |
