Library Workshop Series - Summer Institute 2006 (July 13, 2006 - August 24, 2006)
Learn about the latest library databases and services available at the UCR libraries. The Library is offering serveral one hour workshops this summer designed for faculty, researchers, post docs, and graduate students.
Most sessions will be held in the Science Library, room 122. To reserve your place and help us plan, we encourage you to register on the class signup sheet.

Workshop Descriptions:
Advanced EndNote: Cite while you Write:
If you have some experience with EndNote and are looking for some additional tools and tips for using EndNote with Microsoft Word, this class is perfect for you. We will begin with a basic overview of Cite while you Write and look at specific issues and problems that many people face when trying to get their papers and manuscripts ready.
EndNote Basics:
Learn how the bibliographic management software, EndNote, can be useful to you. This is a basic hands-on workshop. Create your own personal EndNote “Library.” Practice four different methods of inserting records, search and sort information, cite references as you write a Word document, and instantly format a bibliography in any style.
Faculty of 1000 Biology:
If you don’t have time to read everything in your field, Faculty of 1000 can alert you to the most important papers. Based on the recommendations of over 1600 of the world’s leading scientists, this research service highlights and evaluates the most interesting and valued papers published in the biological sciences. It complements indirect assessment provided by the journal impact factor.
Incorporating instructional materials into iLearn courses - new features in version 7.1
This workshop will present and demonstrate the many new features available in iLearn with the upgrade to version 7.1. This upgrade is a significant version upgrade and librarians will have additional tools to work with in incorporating instructional materials into iLearn courses. . Some of the new features include: 10 new question types, Performance Dashboard (student assessment), Adaptive Release (rules based release of content), RSS feeds, multi-language support, plus many others.

Powersearching Google:
Google is an amazing tool and it just keeps getting better. Learn some tips and tricks for finding exactly what you want with Google, quickly and efficiently. We will be looking at Google advanced searching, Google maps, Google Images, Google Books and Google Scholar.
