Changes to UC Digital Image Services

The California Digital Library is moving some of the UC-owned and UC-licensed collections from Insight to ARTstor, while access to other collections will be reverting to UC Web sites. With rapid change and technological development such adjustments are necessary to insure the best access to a rich variety of expanding image resources and to improved management and presentation tools. These changes are targeted for mid- to late-June.

A conscientious effort has been made to insure that access to image resources will not be disrupted without alternatives being made available. Many of the images are being migrated into ARTstor hosted collections, such as UCSC Library’s Instructional Collection, accessible to all UC campuses. The following is a summary of these adjustments:

1) Most of the Art Museum Images from Cartography Associates (AMICA) in Insight can now be accessed in ARTstor http://www.artstor.org.

2) Saskia Art and Architecture has been moved from Insight to a UC shared collection hosted by ARTstor (after entering the digital library at http://www.artstor.org it is located under "Institutional Collections").

3) Hartill Art and Architecture has been removed from Insight and is available in its entirety in the ARTstor digital library http://www.artstor.org.

4) SPIRO from UC Berkeley’s Architecture Visual Resources Library will be removed from Insight and is accessible from the Web site at http://www.mip.berkeley.edu/spiro while selections are moving into an ARTstor institutional collection.

5) Museums and the Online Archive of California (MOAC) will be removed from Insight but is available to the UC community, as well as the general public, on MOAC’s and CDL’s Calisphere Web sites at:

6) Library of UC Images (LUCI) will be removed from Insight but are available from the Web site at http://vrc.ucr.edu/luci/index.html while selections are moved into ARTstor institutional collections.

7) Tebtunis Papyri will be removed from Insight but are available from the Bancroft Library’s Web site at http://tebtunis.berkeley.edu/index.html.

8) UCSF Demonstration Project will no longer be available.

9) The following Insight collections will remain accessible from http://www.imageservice.cdlib.org/ with a number of new collections soon to be added from Insight community partners:

David Rumsey Historical Map Collection
Estate Project for Artists with Aids
Farber Gravestone Collection
Hoover Institution Poster Collection
