The Siver Age of Comics
Two display cases in the Leisure Reading area present comic books from the collection of the University Librarian Dr. Ruth M. Jackson. The Silver Age of Comics. Spanning roughly between the mid 1950s and 1970s, the Silver Age focused on the figure of a superhero, and so the exhibit prominently presents Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl alongside other characters such as Spider Man, Bat Man, and Captain America. Dr. Jackson’s exhibit is the 5th in the series UCR Librarians as Collectors.

Adam Repán Petko Student Book Collection Competition
Patrons entering the library see three display cases with books from the collections of last year’s winners of the Adam Repán Petko Memorial Student Book Collection Competition. This exhibit is also a teaser for next year's edition of the Petko competition.

     Graduate Student Prize
Brett Goforth from the Department of Earth Sciences collects on local vegetation. His exhibit is entitled Historical Plant Geography with Emphasis on California Vegetation Change.

     Undergraduate Student Prizes:
Creative Writing major Sharon Chan’s collection No Need for a Knight in Shining Armor: Heroines in Children and Young Adult Literature focuses on spirited and strong-willed heroines in children's and young adult literature, “girls [who] were not passive princesses, but strong, witty females who were the equals of any male hero or character.”
James Nam’s Food: Culture through Recipes and Gastronomy reflects his interest in “all things food: food as nourishment and necessity, food as a connector, food as an insight into history, food as cultural anthropology, food as a gateway into understanding a culture, and finally, food as pleasure.”

Here's Looking at You: Photography Through a Lens
Another exhibit from the series UCR Librarians as Collectors has opened on the 4th floor in Special Collections & Archives: Sarah Allison’s Here’s Looking At You: Photography Through a Lens—an exhibit of old cameras, photographs taken with them, and books about the art and technique of photography.
