On Sunday, August 15, 2010 the Rivera and Orbach Science Libraries will close at 2pm due to an emergency electrical shutdown. There will be no air conditioning or electricity in the Orbach Science Library during this period, and no access to a generator. Due to the intense heat currently in Riverside, we believe that the Orbach Science Library will be too uncomfortable for users and for library staff to occupy the facility with the loss of air conditioning capacity.
Additionally, online library information and access services (the library information system and webpage, public workstations in the libraries, and checkout services) will be unavailable in that our technology infrastructure (servers, etc.) is housed in the Orbach Science Library and supported by its electrical circuits.
With this early closure, library hours on Sunday, August 15 will be as follows:
10am to 2pm open
2pm to 5pm closed
**The library website and catalog will be unavailable from 2pm to 8:00pm.**
The Libraries will open as regularly scheduled at 8am on Monday, August 16.
