The UCR Libraries Student Book Collection Competition was inaugurated in the academic year 2003-2004 in memory of Adam Repán Petko (1896-1995). Mr. Petko, an immigrant to this country in 1912, had a great and abiding interest in the literacy of his fellow immigrants, and in particular their young children, who had been denied a formal education in their native lands.
The competition is funded through the generosity of Dr. Edward C. Petko, Adam Repán Petko's son. Application and contest rules are available at the Circulations Desk of each of the libraries on campus.
