Meet the Author Series: Marlene Zuk
Marlene Zuk, Professor of Biology, received her bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara, and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, where she worked on the role of parasites in mate choice. Dr. Zuk came to UCR as an assistant professor in 1989. She will speak about her much-acclaimed book Sexual Selections: What We Can and Can’t Learn About Sex From Animals. Described as a “witty and provocative survey of sex in the animal kingdom”, it is an examination of some long-held assumptions about male and female behavior, with some surprising conclusions about dominance, aggressiveness, nurturing, monogamy and other fascinating topics.
