Meet the Author Series: John Bloomberg-Rissman
John Bloomberg-Rissman is the Assistant Director of English Projects at the Center for Bibliographic Studies and Research.
Born in Chicago, 1950, where trees grow in squares cut from sidewalks. King of gravel and empty lots. Moved to California, 1960, stunned by lush life and blonde gods, obviously king of nothing. “When I was 17, a poet ghost copped my bones for his own small clear light melodies” [a girl I liked had been mean to me). Six years later, my first real poem. A number of jobs, a family, a sort-of career. The need to make poems the great constant. And now here I am, grateful for the light and all that lives.
