What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism means intentionally or unintentionally using another's words or ideas without giving credit. When using ideas or exact words from another person you must cite the source(s), even if those ideas are paraphrased in your own words.
How to Avoid Plagiarism?
- Use your own words and ideas
- Give credit for copied, adapted, or paraphrased material
- Avoid using others' work with minor "cosmetic" changes
- Beware of "common knowledge"
- When in doubt, cite
