Early American Imprints, Series I, also known as "Evans", is based on the renowned American Bibliography by Charles Evans and enhanced by Roger Bristol's Supplement to Evans' American Bibliography. It covers the output of the American Press, 1639-1800.
Early American Imprints, Series II, also known as "Shaw-Shoemaker", covers the output of the American press, 1801-1819. It is based on based on the authoritative bibliography by Ralph B. Shaw and Richard H. Shoemaker and is now supplemented by thousands of new items. Early American Imprints is the definitive resource for primary information about every aspect of life in early America, from the colonial period through the Revolutionary War and into the first decades of the United States. The interface offers both simple and advanced searching as well as in-depth browsing within sixteen-indexed subject categories.
