Gerritsen Collection, Women's History Online, 1543-1945
is a cross-cultural resource for information on feminist consciousness and women's rights, with materials spanning 4 centuries (1543-1945) and 15 languages. It includes materials on both pro- and anti-feminist views as well as titles which reflect the condition of women during a given historical period. Materials in the collection are mainly publications from the New Zealand, and Western Europe, and are primarily in English with significant number of items in German and French. |

The collection consists of periodical series (265 titles, 25%) and monograph and pamphlets (4,471 titles, 75%). It provides easy access to rich primary sources previously available only in a few rare book rooms, including over 2 million page images in their original printed downloadable in PDF. Users can browse the book titles by broad index headings, such as "Marriage, home and motherhood" and "Prostitution," or specific subject terms, such as "Domestics" and "Needlework." Searching is available by keyword, author, book/article title, publisher, time period, city of publication, and language. Retrieval can also be limited to subject, periodical title, and document type.
