New Digital Resources: ACCESSMedicine now available
| The latest electronic addition to the UCR Libraries’ biomedical resources, ACCESSMedicine, indexes 24 core textbooks, such as Harrison’s Online, Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment 2005, Hurst’s The Heart, and Goodman & Gillman’s Pharmacology, as well as The Lange Educational Library. Four more titles will become available by the end of the year.
The Drug Index contains information on hundreds of brand names, generics, and over-the-counter drugs in Gold Standard Media’s Clinical Pharmacology database. This section summarizes indications, contraindications, interactions, side effects, patient education, and shows the pills in color. This fall a self-assessment component will provide students with the opportunity to prepare for the USMLE Board Examination, Steps 1 & 2. The student will be able to customize the test by discipline, organ system, or subspecialty, and to retake tests composed of incorrectly answered questions. Each wrong answer will be linked back to the appropriate chapters within Lange.com/. Benefits to UCR students and faculty are access to the latest information, search ability, downloads to PDAs (personal digital assistants), and regular updates.
To access, click on Ejournals and E-Books from the Library home page and scroll down to section 7. In the future, individual titles will be available electronically through Scotty, UCR's online catalog. |
