New Digital Resources: Science of Synthesis

Science of Synthesis

The UC Libraries are pleased to have negotiated electronic access to Science of Synthesis, Houben-Weyl Methods of Molecular Transformations, a full-text, structure and reaction searchable database. This specialized reference work contains over 146,000 product-specific experimental procedures, 580,000 structures, and 700,000 references for the synthetic chemist. The online version of Science of Synthesis also includes access to the complete electronic backfile of Houben-Weyl Methods of Organic Chemistry published from 1909-2004 (140 volumes). Houben-Weyl is a standard reference work for synthetic chemists.

This new online edition of Science of Synthesis features fully interactive text and structure searching. It will contain contributions eventually from 1000 authors on 18,000 experimental procedures for 180,000 reactions and 800,000 structures. Science of Synthesis contains information on 18 000 generally applicable experimental procedures, which include 180 000 reactions and 800 000 structures. The online reference work will be completed about 2009.

UCR users may access Science of Synthesis via the Chemistry subject guide, the A-Z list of databases or through the Scotty catalog.
