C19 Nineteenth Century Research
C19, The Nineteenth Century Index, provides access to the most important tools for 19th century research. C19 gives you access
to a searchable index of over 1.5 million books and over 16 million articles.
C19 draws together the contents of the following indices:
- American Periodicals Series (7 million articles from American magazines published between 1770 and 1919).
- Archives USA (directory of over 5,500 repositories and over 150,000 collections of primary source material)
- British Periodicals (the contents of over 450 British journals of the 19th century)
- House of Commons Parliamentary Papers (the working documents of the British government during the 19th century).
- Nineteenth-Century Short Title Catalogue (an index of all the printed work published in the United Kingdom and the United States during the 19th century).
- Palmer's Index to the Times (an index to the London Times, dating back to 1790).
- Periodicals Archive Online and Periodicals Index Online (databases which index millions of articles from almost 5,000 humanities and social sciences periodicals published around the world).
- Poole's Index to Periodical Literature (the standard subject guide to 19th century British periodicals, covering almost 500,000 articles).
- Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals, 1824-1900 (the other standard guide to 19th century British periodicals, indexing 45 of the major British periodicals of the century).
- U.S. Congressional Serial Set (official reports and documents of the U.S. Congress during the 19th century).
