Locating electronic and print dissertations written for a UCR Degree
Beginning in fall 2009, all UCR PhD students completing dissertations are required to submit a draft and final version of their dissertation to the Graduate Division electronically, using ProQuest UMI Dissertation Publishing. Moving to electronic submission and access makes UCR’s dissertations easily and widely discoverable, accessible, and easily archived for future generations of researchers. All UCR dissertations are available through the ProQuest Dissertation Abstracts Database . All UCR dissertations are also available and searchable through the UCR online catalog, SCOTTY and through Melvyl, the UC-wide catalog. Print copies may be ordered from ProQuest Dissertation Express for a fee.
- Search SCOTTY to find UCR dissertations.
- Look for dissertations by the author or title, or browse by UCR department.
- To directly access dissertations by a specific department, you can simply do a subject search.
Dissertations published electronically will have a link in SCOTTY and Melvyl to the online version.
Examples:
- University Of California Riverside Dept Of History Dissertations
- University Of California Riverside School Of Education Dissertations
- University Of California Riverside Dept Of Biology Dissertations
Locating theses written for a UCR Degree
Use SCOTTY, the UCR online catalog, to find copies of UCR theses deposited with the UCR Libraries. You can directly search for theses by author or title, or use a keyword search:
Examples:
- thesis (M.A.) and riverside
- thesis (M.B.A) and riverside
- thesis (M.S.) and riverside
You must use the AND operator in the Quick Search box.
You will see that Thesis and Riverside are in the Notes field, not the Subject Heading.
UCR Senior Honors Theses
Senior Honors Theses are deposited with the UCR Libraries Special Collections. See Scotty Record. See also UCR Undergraduate Research Journal. Explore the UC System Wide Journal, Audeamus. See Scotty Record.
