Non-UC Affiliated Users
Spouse, Partner, Child of UCR Faculty and Staff: A spouse, partner or child (18+ years) of a UCR Faculty or Staff member may obtain a UCR Library card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk or use a UCR Card for library services. UCR Faculty or Staff must verify relationship in person to establish library privileges. Privileges are valid for one year.

Non-UC Academic: Faculty from accredited California Colleges and Universities may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk for library services with proof of status, such an I.D. from your home campus with a current date stating you are an academic, a letter on letterhead from your campus department or personnel department stating length and type of appointment, current payroll stub or listing in your home campus online directory. Library privileges are granted for the academic year, or length of appointment, and may be updated with confirmation of status.
OCLC Faculty: May obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk for library services with presentation of an OCLC authorization card from your participating library and an alternate form of picture ID (e.g. driver's license). Library privileges are valid through the date assigned on the authorization card.

Friends of the Library: Community members, 18 years or older, may join the Friends of the Library by filling out an application, available at either the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desks. Confirmation of California residency required.
- Friends $65.00: Privileges are valid for one year.
- Senior Friends (age 55 or older) $40.00: Privileges are valid for one year.
- California State University (CSU) / Community College Student Friends $20.00: Privileges are valid for six months. Proof of current student registration required.
- Watkins Society $35.00: Privileges are valid for one year. Your name must be on official list provided to the UCR Libraries or have a receipt showing payment of membership fees.
California Public School Teachers: Certificated K-12 teachers, currently employed as a classroom teacher or administrator, may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk for library services. Proof of current employment in a California public school must be provided, such as a current pay stub or a letter from the district office or school on letterhead stating your current status and length of appointment. Address verification required (e.g. driver's license). Library privileges are valid through the end of the fiscal year.
College and University Agreements:
- Loma Linda University: Currently enrolled students may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk with an official authorization form from the Loma Linda Library and one additional form of identification / address confirmation (e.g. driver's license). Library privileges are valid through the date indicated on the authorization form.
- University of Redlands: Currently enrolled students majoring in Environmental Studies may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk for library services with an official authorization form from the University of Redlands Library and one additional form of identification / address confirmation (e.g. driver's license). Library privileges are valid through the date indicated on the authorization form.
- Stanford University: Currently enrolled Graduate Students, Faculty and Staff may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library with presentation of a UC/Stanford Cooperative Program card provided by the Stanford Library and one additional form of identification / address confirmation (e.g. driver's license). Library privileges are valid through the end of each semester.

International Baccalaureate: Participants in the John North High School International Baccalaureate program may obtain a UCR Library Card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk for library services. Your name must be on an official list provided to the UCR Libraries for confirmation of status and you must bring a form of identification (e.g. student ID) and address confirmation. Participants under the age of 18 are required to present a signed parent responsibility slip provided by the IB program coordinator at North High School. Library privileges are valid through the date indicated on the authorization list.

Unpaid Post Doctorate & Visiting Scholars: Current Post Doc / Visiting Scholars who are affiliated with a UCR Campus Department, but are not paid by UCR may obtain a UCR Library card from the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk or use a UCR Card for library services. A Request for Library Privileges: Visiting and Other Non-Salaried Positions form must be completed and presented to the Rivera or Orbach Science Library Circulation Desk to establish library privileges. Privileges are valid through the length of appointment.
Mentor Programs: Participants in the Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) or a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program must obtain a UCR Card from the Card Office, which functions as your library card. Your name must be on an official list provided to the UCR Libraries for confirmation of status. Library privileges are valid through the end of the program.
