Use Scotty, the Library's online catalog to identify books by topic, title or author OR
to identify if the Library owns particular journals. Scotty does not include articles.
Search by keyword for materials on a particular topic, then refine using Subject Headings.
Example: Keyword search ~ indians and england
Example: Subject Headings: East Indians Foreign Countries or East Indian Diaspora

Reference Works
Print encyclopedias provide an overview of a topic and include bibliographies. Bibliographies, biographical sources, and historiographies lead you to other sources. Here is a sampling:
- Victorian Britain : an encyclopedia Ref DA550 .V53 1988
- Encyclopedia of diasporas (2 volumes) Ref JV6225 .E63 2004
- Longman companion to Britain in the nineteenth century, 1815-1914 Ref DA530 .C66 1999
- Antisemitism : a historical encyclopedia of prejudice and persecution (2 volumes) Ref DS146.E8 A58 2005
Articles
- Historical Abstracts - Scholarly articles, books, dissertations, and collections in world history (excluding US and Canada) from 1450 to modern times,
most with abstracts and some full-text; 1954-present- 19th Century Masterfile Index - Citations for books, periodicals, newspapers, patents, and government documents related to the 19th century.
