Das Totenschiff, 1959, Film Publicity Materials
In addition to the movie poster, Gerd Heidemann collected numerous pieces of publicity material for the film "Das Totenschiff" [The Death Ship]. The following were on display in the exhibition.
As shown by the pictures in this movie fan magazine, Illustrierte Filmbühne, the "Mylène" character written for Elke Sommer added a romantic element to the movie that was not present in the gritty B. Traven novel. In correspondence to director Tressler now in the Heidemann Collection, producer José Kohn objected strenuously to the "Mylène" scenes, saying they added nothing and that Sommer's acting was awful.
