William A. Spalding: The Orange: Its Culture in California, 1885
Another "how to" manual much like Garey's but with less detail, William Spalding's book, also based chiefly on his own (four years of) citrus growing experience, contains the following divisions: Part I, The subject generally discussed; Part II, Practical orange culture; Part III, Lemons, limes and citrons; and an appendix on "Insects injurious to citrus trees, and how to combat them."
Unlike Garey, Spalding ventures briefly into the history of citrus fruits, including their original California home at the Mission San Gabriel.
