Nürnbergische Hesperides, 1708: Copper Plate I

  Beneath a ribbon banner proclaiming "Insecta malorum arantiorum et limoniorum" (insects of oranges and lemons), scale insects are shown in situ on citrus leaves and stem and enlarged at the bottom of the picture.

  In the lower one-third of the plate is a scene from the Nürnberger Land, showing the bridge into the town of Altdorf and a foreground scene of crippled beggars receiving alms from two men, one on horseback, one on foot.
