Nürnbergische Hesperides, 1708: Copper Plate III
The plate of the "Aranzo da Portugal" (Portuguese orange) shows a rural scene labeled as "In Mr. Wurzelbaur's garden." Amid lovely examples of domestic architecture and a tiny but elaborate Renaissance building with a moat bridge, we find Mr. Wurzelbaur tending to his small collection of seedlings, perhaps soon to become a citrus garden.
