For questions about this policy, please contact Manuel Urrizola.
To insure that all Notify and Rush Requests for library materials receive efficient handling within a turnaround time of 48 hours, all Rush Requests will be processed through the Cataloging Expeditor, Jean Weiss.
This procedure applies to both uncataloged materials and those materials with a cataloging date within the last 60 days. (If the cataloging date is more than 60 days, the material should be processed and available in the designated library, especially when the Scotty status is "NOT CHCKD OUT.")
Initial requests will be received in one of the following ways:
- Phone: x2-3780
- Email: rushcat@library.ucr.edu
- Backlog Retrieval Form / Printout:
Send to: Jean Weiss / Cataloging / RUSH
The Cataloging Expeditor will verify the information in the request and give a status report to the originating requestor, as necessary.
The Cataloging Expeditor will determine if the material is in the department, retrieve it, and either catalog or distribute the material to the appropriate specialized subject cataloger for Rush cataloging.
If material is still on order, the Cataloging Expeditor will confer with the Ordering/Receiving Unit, who will put a note in the order record to Rush catalog the material when received.
If the material has been recently cataloged, the Expeditor will confer with Preservation Services to determine if the material is still being processed or is available at the designated library. The material will be Rush processed if still in Preservation Services; the requestor will be notified if the material is available in the designated library.
