When you enjoy your snacks and drinks in UCR's Libraries, remember to snack with care and clean up after yourselves. Food left in the libraries will attract bugs and other creatures that might also feast on books. To view the UCR Libraries Building use Policy click here.

The Care and Feeding of your UCR Library Book

We want you to enjoy our books, but they last much longer when they are treated with love and respect..

  • Use a bookmark, they come in a variety of great designs and will impress your friends with how smart you are.
  • Library books are not best enjoyed while swimming.
  • Eating Doritos and Cheetos while reading can be enjoyable, but remember to wipe your fingers before turning pages.

The mission of the department is to employ a broad range of conservationally sound treatment techniques and best practices to preserve and maintain the useable life of UCR Library collections of humankinds' cultural heritage regardless of storage format. Preservation Services provides the UCR campus with the following services.

  • Bind journals to keep issues from getting lost and protect and prolong their useful life
  • Repair books that have been damaged
  • Provide preservation copies of important print and non-print resources
  • Provide department binding
  • Disaster preparedness and education services
  • Process new books for use
