Science Data
The database Zanran can be an effective way to search for specific data collections. Doing a google search for "data sets" or datasets and topic can also be an effective way to search for data, though it might be helpful to limit searches to .edu or .gov domains (site:.gov).
Examples or datasets in the sciences:
Environmental
Biological
- Arabidopsis Information Resource
- Entrez Gene (and other NCBI data sets)
- NOAA Biology Data
- Vanderbilt Department of Biostatistics - Interesting random collection of data
- Yeast Resource Center Public Data Repository
- Zebrafish Data

- PennState Astrostatistics Center
- SIMBAD Astonomical Database
- (Article about Astronomical datasets) Princeton
- USGS Datasets

Working with Data
Got data?
NSF and other grant agencies now require that data gathered with grant agency funding be archived in a secure environment. Even if it isn't required, there are excellent reasons to deposit data.
- CDL Guide sharing/archiving data
- DMPT - Making a data plan for a grant
- Depositing your Data with UC Data Repository (Merritt)
Cool Data Projects
- OpenContext (currently mostly Archaeological and Medical, GPS linked)
