The campus provides two ways to access the Libraries' resources when away from campus:

  • WebVPN allows students, faculty and staff to access the libraries' web-based resources through a web-based log-in form. (more info)
  • Client VPN functions through software installed by the user on their computer, and establishes a secure tunnel between the user's computer and the campus network. (more info)

If you have trouble with either of these, you may try the other method, or see the troublshooting guide.

Instructions:

Client VPN

The Client Virtual Private Network (VPN) requires software to be downloaded and installed to your computer.  Recommended for frequent or in-depth research.

The First Time:
  1. Go to the Campus Download & Install VPN Page.
  2. Click on your operating system under the "Download and Install VPN Client" section.
  3. Download the VPN client Software onto your computer and follow the installation instructions.
Whenever you want to log on:
  1. Find the VPN software in your Start menu at Programs -> Cisco Systems VPN Client -> VPN Client (you can put a shortcut on your desktop)
  2. Log in with your Net ID and Net ID Password(Same as Webmail)
New Profile! If your VPN has recently stopped working, use this profile Off_Campus_Tunnel_All. (If you do not see it as a connection option, download the file into your profiles folder.

Note: You may have to turn off your firewall (e.g., Zonealarm) to use the VPN.  More Info

WebVPN

The WebVPN functions within your browser.  You will be directed through the WebVPN if you go to one of our library resources from an off campus location.

You may also log in by clicking the button below.

Because the WebVPN works within your browser, it is more prone to difficulties relating to browser compatibility.  If you have trouble, check our documentation to see if it is a known problem.  Some resources have difficulty with IE6 or with IE and Vista.
