Many apps available either your device's app store can perform the same functions as your typical scanner -- with some added benefits. With many of these apps, not only can you scan a document, but you can also organize your scans into different files that you control, email them to yourself or another classmate and even upload your scans to other apps that you may use -- such as Dropbox or Evernote!
N.B. The apps below are just a sampling of scanner apps available in your smartphone/tablet's app store; there are many more available. For whichever app you do choose, we strongly recommend that you read through the app's description carefully before installing it, especially since app developers regularly make changes to their apps via updates
