OCTOBER 25 - Opportunities & Challenges of Intercultural Communication
A guiding premise of the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant is to increase diversity in the profession, and to train librarians to effectively provide programming and library services to increasingly diverse communities. Therefore, participation in a program that discusses diversity within our workplaces and the challenges we face in communicating across cultures is vital to your success as a Fellow and as a library leader. Join Dr. Carlos Cortes, Professor Emeritus at UCR, for an interactive, informative and timely conversation concerning intercultural communication in the workplace.

Professor Cortes has lectured widely throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia on such topics as: multiculturalism; diversity in the media; media literacy; Hispanic culture and history; film; and the implications of diversity for education, government, and private business.

Attendance by IE LEADS Fellows is required.

This workshop will take place at the UC Riverside campus, Orbach Science Library room 240, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Please RSVP to ieleads@ucr.edu by 5pm October 20.
