Earth Sciences
Earth Sciences
Description:
The exhibit case on the ground floor focuses on geosciences. In the first century CE Ptolomey formulated a system to accurately represent the physical features of the earth. William Smith's Geological Map of Britain (1818) was the first to illustrate different rock formations underlying the earth's surface. Also in the early 19th century Charles Lyell proposed that the features of the earth arose gradually over eons of time.
