Science Library Virtual Tour

Science Library

The Science Library has approximately 533,000 cataloged publications in the subjects of physical sciences, natural and agricultural sciences, biomedical sciences, and engineering and computer science. It also houses the Map Collection, which features state-of-the-art electronic cartographic resources as well as extensive holdings of maps and atlases. This virtual tour will introduce you to the various service areas in the library. Enjoy!

Entrance

As you enter the library, directly in front of you is the Information Kiosk, to the left of you is the Circulation Desk and to the right are the lobby and the new book shelf. A vending machine for study supplies is also located in this area.

Kiosk Desk

The round desk near the entrance to the library is called the Kiosk. A computer is located on the Kiosk so that one may look up a call number before going upstairs to grab a book. During the first week of fall quarter, the Kiosk is staffed with a person to direct patrons to the various services areas in the library or to help students find their way around campus.

Circulation and Reserve Desks

The Circulation and Reserves Services Desks are located near the entrance of the library. This is where you will go to check out library materials or inquire about the status of library materials. You can also inquire about lending regulations or resolve issues with your library record. The Circulation Services Desk is open all hours the library is open.

Reference Desk

Directly across from the entrance to the library is the Reference Desk. At the Reference Desk you can ask questions about how to find and how to use the resources of the library.

Lab 122

On the first floor is a state-of-the-art microcomputer instruction room which is used for library instruction.

New Books

The new book shelf is located to the right of the entrance of the library. The new book shelf is where newly added books to the collections are displayed before they are shelved with the rest of the collection. Books are added weekly. Also available on this shelf is a box for feedback, which we encourage everyone to give us, and the study logs for the fraternities and sororities on campus.

Lab Room 122

On the first floor is a state-of-the-art microcomputer instruction room which is used for library instruction.
