Reading History and Your Privacy

Reading History and Your Privacy

The library takes seriously the privacy of your library records. We do not keep track of what you borrow after you return it.

"My Reading History" is a feature which allows you to track items you borrow. Participation in the feature is entirely voluntary. You may start or stop using it, as well as delete any or all entries in "My Reading History", at any time. If you choose to start using "My Reading History", you agree to allow our automated system to store this data.

Library staff do not have access to your "My Reading History". However, it is subject to all applicable state and federal laws, and under those laws, could be examined by law enforcement authorities without your permission. If this is a concern to you, you should not use the "My Reading History" feature.

  1. Log into your "MySCOTTY" account.
  2. Click on "My Reading History".
  3. Click on "Start saving my reading history".

The system will start saving a list of titles beginning with any titles that you check out AFTER you click on "Start saving my reading history". Anything you check out before you started saving your history will NOT be on the list.

You can delete some or all of the titles on your list whenever you want. You will see "Stop saving my reading history" after you have turned on the feature, and you can click on this link to stop collecting titles at any time. However, you must detele all of the titles before you can opt out of saving your history.
