Interlibrary Loan REQUEST Service

Interlibrary Loan REQUEST Service

What is the Request Service?

UC faculty, students and staff may use the request service to automatically place an interlibrary request for material found in the Melvyl Catalog, UCR & UC-licensed databases, or using Citation Linker.

Note: Students may not request required textbooks or course books through interlibrary loan.

Using the Melvyl Catalog

The Request button is available from the detailed search results display. Seperate requests must be made for each item.

  1. Select item(s) by checking the box next to each item then click on the Request button.
  2. Enter your department, library card number (14-digit library card barcode), your preferred UCR Library delivery location, and other relevant information.
  3. Click the Continue button.
  4. Review the item(s) you have requested.
  5. Read and accept the copyright statement.
  6. Request may show you a link to an online copy of your item or in some cases ask you to make some addtional decisions about an item.
  7. When the item(s) complete processing, a confirmation message is displayed. It is recommended that you send this page to your personal email account.

Note: Journal articles are usually delivered via the web.

Are There Any Limits on Use?

UC faculty, staff and students may use the service to request items from the MELVYL Catalog, from the UCR & UC-licensed databases and from UC-eLinks. There is no limit to the number of items that may be requested.

REQUEST will inform you if you've requested material that is held by UCR and will suggest you look for it at the library.

Faculty, staff and students may submit a request to have available UCR Library materials paged for pick up at the Circulation desk of the Rivera, Orbach Science, Multimedia or Music Libraries.  Please see the Paging Service webpage for additional information.
