CHOOSING A TOPIC

Instructors occasionally assign a specific topic, but often they expect you to choose a topic. Good topics have 3 basic things in common - which we call the A I M  principle:

Appropriate
Make sure your topic fits the assignment.
Interesting
Select a topic that you find interesting and will enjoy researching.
Manageable
Make sure your topic is manageable.

If it's too broad, you may be overwhelmed by the amount of material you find. If it's too narrow or specialized, there may not be enough research material available.
