Essential Functions: As a member of the Libraries’ Information Technology and Systems Department, provide primary support of the Library Integrated Library System (ILS). Provide expert server adminstration support for hardware, software, and backup systems for the ILS. Monitor the ILS system logs/messages, files sizes, disk utilization, record usage, and login statistics. Maintain security by providing/removing logins and passwords. Provide primary support and continued profiling for all aspects of the ILS (cataloging,circulation, acquisitions, serials, binding, reserves, electroinc reserves, public access). Maintain and support all software and peripherals used by the ILS system (printers, barcode readers, mobile devices) recommending specifications for purchase of hardware/software to be used with the ILS. Monitor all patron file transfers between the ILS and other campus departments (registrar, carding office). Liaise with ILS vendor for problem reports and beta test issues. Keep up to date with changes, new products, and new functionalities associated with ILS technology. Participate in provision of desktop suport for all other Library related hardware/software, including staff training and support on all Windows Office programs as well as Exchange email and calendaring. Maintain Library web pages within the Library’s content management system related to the ILS system. Manage the internal Library e-mail lists.
Minimum Skills: Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, or related field; or equivalent experence. Knowledge and experience with Integrated Library Systems. Familiarty with authentication protocols and standards. Understanding of backup procedures. Experience with file transfer protocols (FTP). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work during normal hours (M-F, 8-5)
Preferred Skills: Demonstrated skill in systems analysis. Skill in providing instruction and mentoring to staff outside of the IT Department. Experience with technology planning in a higher education setting. Experience with Millennium ILS system preferred.
