---search for record of "property you may have lost or forgotten"
(property includes bank accounts, security box contents, stocks, royalty payment, insurance policies, etc., but not real estate)
---obtain a form to file a claim for unclaimed property

Enter your name to search for unclaimed property in your name held by one of the states. Note that not all states are included in the national database. Choose State Links to connect to individual states' unclaimed property searches. In addition, some states do not list all of the unclaimed property records in their custody.

Unclaimed properties are "any funds or intangible personal property that have remained unclaimed by the owner for a certain number of years. ... Unclaimed property takes many forms. Forgotten savings and checking accounts, uncashed payroll checks, stock, and utility and rental deposits are examples. Also, retirement benefits, safe deposit box contents, tax and fee refunds, credit balances, old life insurance policies, accident benefits and more."

Connect to individual state governments' searchable online databases of unclaimed property and/or information about unclaimed property. Search by personal name for unclaimed property. At the website, choose Owners section, then Find Property section, then state.

This site is maintained by NAUPA (National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators), state officials charged with the responsibility of collecting and reuniting lost owners with their unclaimed property.
