California Citrograph 1922
1922:
This fashionable lady waits for the train, bearing her large (and might I say: heavy) basket of juicy California oranges. Is she travelling east, to places where oranges are a rare, exotic treat?
The scene visible through the window -- the grower's house, the orange grove with its ripe winter fruit and the snow-capped mountain -- were typical advertising motifs used both on citrus crate labels and real estate brochures of the day.
