Guideline for Published Monographs in Archival Collections

- Published monographs contained in archival collections will be cataloged.
- MARC records will be created and LC call numbers will be assigned.
- MARC records will be available in SCOTTY, MELVYL, and WorldCat (OCLC).
- Each MARC record will contain a 590 note field, "From the DACS collection title (Collection number)."
- Each MARC record will contain a 791 field (791 2 blank), DACS collection title (Collection number).
- Monographs will be processed in the same manner as any other Special Collections or Eaton monograph: book plate, stamp, and flag.
- Monographs will be shelved according to call number in the Special Collections or Eaton stacks.
- All monographs cataloged for the Special Collections or Eaton stacks will also be incorporated into the finding aid's container list (by archivists).
- Exact duplicate copies of existing monographs will not be added to the Special Collections or Eaton stacks. They will remain with the archival collection and will be incorporated into the finding aid's container list.
NB: Annotated copies are not considered duplicates and will be added to the Special Collections or Eaton stacks as additional copies following Steps 2-8 above.
