Collection Development
Welcome to the website of the UCR Libraries Collection Development, which is part of the Collection Services Department. The Department is responsible for selection, recommendation and acquisition of library resources recommended by Subject Specialists, who also act as liaison to faculty, departments and academic programs on campus.
The Department also is in charge of the Scholarly Communications Program of the UCR Libraries. This developing program is organized to raise awareness of open access publishing and to support the transformation of scholarly publishing to a more sustainable model. Outreach for this program is targeted at faculty, postdocs, researchers and graduate students and includes support for their open access publishing efforts.
Selecting materials in all formats for the UCR Libraries is done by the members of the Collection Development Network (CDNet) comprised of Bibliographers and Subject Specialists from the UCR Libraries.
The Collection Development Department office is located on the first floor of the Tomás Rivera Library to the left of the Circulation Desk and is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. The Head of Collection Services is Kuei Chiu. If you have any questions or comments about the Libraries’ collecting programs, please contact Kuei Chiu (2-3705).
