Find Books

Find Books

There are several ways to find books at the UCR Libraries and around the world.

  • UCR Libraries Catalog (Scotty)

Search for books and other library materials at UCR. It includes information on whether a book is checked out, on Reserve, on hold, or on order. For information see our guides Using Scotty and How to read call numbers. New Books & Media in our Collections
  • Melvyl Catalog

Search for books, journal titles at ALL UC Libraries and beyond. [More Info].
  • Other Library Catalogs

Find catalogs of other local libraries in the Inland Empire, Southern California, and elsewhere.
  • WorldCat

Search for books not found locally or in the UC System. WorldCat includes holdings from over 12,000 libraries worldwide.

If you find a book that we do not own, you can request it through the REQUEST Service or our Interlibrary Services online forms. This service is for UCR faculty, staff, and students only.

Some specialized databases index books or book chapters, as well as journal articles. A reference librarian can help you identify the best resources for your research topic.

  • Google Books

  • Google is working to scan the libraries of the world and their online collection is growing. Some books are available online and some have preview pages, but they are often completely searcheable.
