Personal Statement Instructions
- The Personal Statement is your opportunity to discuss how your personal background and experiences inform your decision to pursue a Masters degree in library and information science, and your interest in the Inland Empire LEADS program. The Personal Statement is weighted significantly in the selection process.
- In 1500 words or fewer, please discuss all of the following:
- 1. Your reasons for desiring to pursue the MLIS and your career goals
- 2. Evidence of your commitment to diversity, including your background and experience working with diverse communities
- 3. How will earning the MLIS prepare you to contribute to the information and service needs of an increasingly diverse user community? (Please be specific)
- 4. What special skills do you think you will bring to the field and the profession
- Your statement should be typed in no smaller than 10 pt font.
