Concise Steps to Compliance
Concise Steps to Compliance
Compliance begins April 7, 2008
- When submitting manuscripts to publishers, include this cover letter to the Publisher from the UC Office of Research Administration and Technology Transfer (PDF). It gives notification to the publisher that the article can be posted on PubMed in compliance with the NIH mandate.
- After your article is accepted for publication, submit the final peer reviewed manuscript to PubMed Central via the NIH Manuscript Submission System. See the NIH Public Access Policy page for more information on how to comply.
- If you submit your article to a journal that directly submits articles to PubMed Central, you can skip step 2. See the list of the journals that directly submit here.
- Effective May 25, 2008, add the NIH Manuscript # or the PubMed Central reference number (PMCID #) when citing these articles in progress reports, renewals, and new applications to NIH.
