Presentation Practice Room

The presentation practice room is available for UCR students, faculty, and staff to coordinate or practice a presentation. It has a large LCD screen and and PC with PowerPoint.  It is recommended that you bring your presentation on a Flash Drive.  Contact the Science Reference desk if that is not possible.  Feel free to bring an audience, the room will hold up to 20 people.

Basic Instructions


  • Book the Room in the Study Room Reservation System (in the Orbach Science Library)
  • At the reserved time, pick up the fob at the Science Circulation/Reserve Desk
  • Also, pick up the wireless mouse and whiteboard markers, if desired
  • Go to 147 and swipe the fob in front of the entry controller
  • Turn on the display monitor using the power button on the side nearest the computer
  • Insert your USB into one of the slots on the left side of the computer monitor
  • Insert the mouse controller in the other slot, if desired
  • Open your presentation
  • Use the left button on the mouse, the arrow key or the space bar to advance
  • When you are finished, turn off the monitor, make sure both doors are locked and refurn your fob and any other items to the Circulation/Reserve desk.
  • Print these Instructions with images


Policies Etc.

The policies that are in place for the other rooms also apply to this room, but we do ask that you take extra care with the presentation practice room environment to keep it in good shape for future users (such as yourself). The audience is welcome to snack as they watch your presentation,
  1. Any number of people from 1-20 may be in the room at any one time
  2. A UCR email account is required to reserve the room.
  3. An individual can reserve a room for maximum of 2 hours per day.
  4. A valid library card is required to check out the key fob from the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Fobs are checked out for a maximum of 2 hours per day. Overdue keys will be assessed $14.00 for any portion of the first hour and $1.00 for any portion of each additional hour. The lost key charge is $2.00 per key.
  5. The individual who makes the reservation must be the one who checks out the key, and also be present while the room is in use.
  6. Keys may be checked out within 15 minutes prior to the reservation time. However, the room may not be available for use until the reservation time.
  7. If the key is not checked out within 15 minutes after the reservation time, the entire reservation may be cancelled (up to 2 hours) and the room may be released to another user.
  8. Please read our Group Study Room Policy. This policy applies to the reservable study rooms.

In the beginning, the Presentation Practice Room will only be available when the Science Reference Desk is open in order to answer any questions or solve any issues that come up.
