About the Collection
Description of San Francisco water-related materials:
Numerous publications, particularly government documents and reports, many issued by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Recent materials include links to current agendas and drafts of the SFPUC. Materials also include older legal cases and publications from the Spring Valley Water Company.
Extensive clippings from the San Francisco Examiner newspaper morgue, along with all the city newspapers on microfilm.
The Department of Public Works Photograph Collection consists of 97 photograph albums that detail all city projects undertaken from 1909 through the 1940's. This collection includes extensive documentation of the building of Hetch Hetchy, as well as the construction of water infrastructure (pipes, cisterns) throughout the city.
