Description of San Francisco water-related materials:
Records collected from SFPUC locations in Millbrae, Mason Street (San Francisco), Sunol and the Peninsula (Watershed Cottage). The collection includes approximately 400 boxes of records, 100 oversize items, periodicals, ephemera, and historical photographs of Hetch Hetchy water system construction and operations. Items include administrative records, watershed keepers reports, weekly water reports (blue sheets), wartime preparedness materials, O'Shaughnessy memorandums, applications for service installation (showing farms in San Francisco), an historical print collection, Spring Valley Water Company records and Daniel Burnham architectural drawings. The earliest record dates to 1868, "Specifications for Hiring Horses," with records continuing through the 1990s.
