Water Resources Collections and Archives

The Water Resources Collections & Archives (WRCA) acquires, preserves, and provides access to materials that document water-related issues throughout the United States and beyond, with a particular emphasis on issues affecting the state of California.

WRCA was established in 1958 as part of the University of California’s Water Resource Center at UC Berkeley, and was relocated to UC Riverside in 2011.

This collection supports the scholarly and research needs of faculty, staff, and students at the University of California as well as researchers worldwide and serves as a gateway to water information in support of water management decision-makers in public and private sector agencies.

Today the collection consists of more than 200,000 technical reports, 45,000 historic photographs, over 5,000 geographic maps, 1,500 specialized newsletters, more than 200 manuscript collections, and continues to grow.

Nearly all WRCA material is discoverable in the UCR catalog. Many collections also have extensive finding aids available on the Online Archive of California and select digital collections can be accessed through Calisphere.
