Tips on using e-Books

Ten things you may or may not have known about e-books and the Libraries:

1. The Libraries have thousands of online books. 
2. You can find them in Scotty and follow the links to get to the books.
3. If you want only online items, select Online in the pull-down menu on the main Scotty search page (rather than All UCR Libraries).
4. Many of our books can be downloaded or read online on your iPad or other tablet.
5. It is really easy to connect tablets to the VPN from off Campus.
6. If you download chapters in PDF, you can read them in Kindle or Nook.
7. We have e-Books from many vendors and they work a little differently for each vendor.
8. Some of your textbooks might even be available as eBooks.
9. If you have an e-textbook, a guide might be helpful. We have guides for several of the e-Book vendors.
10. It can take a little work to get set up to download complete books. If it gets too complicated, ask a Librarian.
