Archives Fair
The Annual Inland Empire Archives Fair celebrates the rich history and culture of the IE region every October in honor of American Archives Month.
Hosted under the iconic arches of the Tomás Rivera Library, the Fair provides an opportunity to raise awareness of local archives, highlight student work with primary sources, and build bridges between institutional and community memory-keeping.

Release of the 2025 UCR Library Scotty Sticker & Zine
In Spring 2025, UCR Special Collections & University Archives (SCUA) hosted the inaugural "Scotty Sticker Competition." We asked students to draw inspiration from different iterations of our mascot (Scotty the Bear) found in the archives to create their own original design-- updated, adapted, or altered to represent their own unique experiences as UCR students in 2025! UCR Library employees were invited to vote for their favorite design.
The winning design has been printed as a limited-run sticker, to be released at this year’s Archives Fair. Although only the winning design will be produced as a sticker, all Scotty designs meeting our guidelines and requirements will be commemorated in a special edition zine published by SCUA and also released at the Archives Fair. Grab your free sticker and zine at the SCUA table, while supplies last!

Labor of Love: Our Power is Our People (Pop-Up Exhibit)
The Labor of Love pop-up exhibit will showcase a portion of the Inland Empire Labor Council, AFL-CIO's ongoing Labor of Love project, meant to document the history of labor resistance in our region. Organized labor's presence in our region dates back to at least 1887, with the founding of the San Bernardino County Central Labor Council, only a year after both the Haymarket Affair and the creation of the American Federation of Labor. That being said, the history of labor resistance is long in the Inland Empire, both inside and outside of unions.
As the region's Central Labor Council, the Inland Empire Labor Council has a unique perspective by being affiliated with state and national labor federations, while having local unions coordinate with each other and those federations through the Labor Council. This coordination and collaboration lead to a wealth of initiatives, events, shared ups, and shared downs — with much of those being documented. The Labor of Love project started as an idea to highlight our region's history. After moving offices and rediscovering thousands of archival documents, there was a renewed push to make the first phase of the project a reality. This initial phase consisted of sorting through (some!) of the hundreds of boxes that were discovered and interviews with a few of the amazing labor leaders in our region, culminating in a documentary, mini-interviews, and the exhibit you will see soon enough that features local labor leaders.
