The UCR Library AI Support Services provides comprehensive support for AI integration and development across a variety of research activities. Our services include, but not limited to, guidance on AI use in research design, data collection and analysis, scholarly production and communication. 

Through consultations, workshops, collaborations, and curated resources, we help researchers and students develop frameworks for using AI critically and ethically across different stages of the research lifecycle. We also support those interested in building custom AI-powered systems by leveraging university and library resources.

• While AI does not replace researchers, it can reduce time and effort in many parts of the research process. We help you explore where AI can support your research workflow without losing transparency, reproducibility and rigor.

Exploring and Selections of AI Tools

• We introduce available AI tools and work with you to identify tools that best fit your research goals, methods, and constraints.

Leveraging AI to Expand Research Skills

• AI tools are making research skills more accessible. In a collaboration with the Data Services Team, We help researchers use AI as a learning and support tool to strengthen technical skills in areas such as literature search & review, writing coding, data processing, analysis and visualization. 

Building Skills for Effective AI Use 

• The outcomes of AI use depend heavily on users’ skills and experiences. We support faculty, researchers, and students’ skill development ranging from effective prompt design for AI interfaces to more advanced use of AI tools APIs.

Responsible, ethical and transparent use of AI

• AI should be used in ways that uphold research integrity and scholarly values. We provide guidance on responsible AI use across the research process, including issues related to data privacy, bias, authorship and attribution, disclosure of AI use, and compliance with institutional and publisher guidelines.

Developing AI-based Models and Systems 

• In collaboration with the Data Services Team, we offer advanced users support for developing customized AI tools and scientific models. This includes comprehensive training on machine learning and neural networks, as well as specialized tools for building AI agents.
