The UCR Library is committed to providing equitable access to our collections, services, facilities, and digital resources for all members of the UCR community, including people with disabilities. We strive to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and follow accessibility best practices and inclusive design principles. Our efforts to improve accessibility are ongoing.

Library Services
The UCR Library offers a range of services to help you access and use library resources. We encourage you to contact us so we can work with you to meet your needs.
Research Assistance
Librarians are available to help with research consultations, finding materials, and navigating library resources. You can reach us through Ask a Librarian for in-person, phone, chat, or email reference help.
Book Retrieval and Delivery
Library staff can retrieve books and other materials from the shelves on your behalf. Contact the circulation desk at your preferred library location to arrange retrieval. Materials can also be delivered to a different UCR Library location upon request.
Scanning and Alternate Formats
We can assist with scanning articles and book chapters. If you need library materials in an alternative format, please contact us and we will work to accommodate your request.
Extended Loan Periods
Extended loan periods for reserve materials may be available to allow use with assistive technology or other accommodations. Contact the circulation desk at your library location for details.
Assistive Technology and Resources
The UCR Library provides assistive technology at various locations:
- Adjustable-height workstations are available at library computer areas
- Screen reading software is available on designated library computers
- Magnification software for users with low vision

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our websites and digital platforms. If you have difficulty using any of our online resources:
- Request support or an equivalent alternative: Contact Ask a Librarian for help accessing the information you need

Physical Access
Parking
Accessible parking is available near UCR Library locations. A valid UCR parking permit and DMV-issued Disabled Person placard or license plate are required. Visit UCR Transportation and Parking Services for information about accessible parking locations and permits.
Building Entrances and Elevators
UCR Library buildings are equipped with accessible entrances and elevators. If you need assistance navigating any library facility, please contact the service desk at that location or call (951) 827-3220 in advance of your visit so we can ensure a smooth experience.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome in all UCR Library facilities in accordance with ADA guidelines. Service animals are those trained to perform tasks related to their handler's disability.
Campus Disability Resources
UCR offers dedicated support for accessible learning, research, and work through campus offices:
- Students: Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) — academic accommodations, assistive technology, alternate format materials, and exam accommodations
- Faculty and Staff: Contact UCR Human Resources for workplace accommodations
- General: Visit UCR Accessibility for university-wide accessibility information and resources
Emergency Procedures
In an emergency, library users with disabilities who are unable to evacuate should proceed to the nearest area of refuge (typically near stairwells) and call 911 to alert first responders to their location. External Vendor VPATs and Accessibility Statements
Some of the Library's online services are delivered through third-party vendor platforms. The accessibility of these platforms is documented by each vendor through a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) or a published accessibility statement.
