Self-service laptop kiosks to launch in spring quarter

Self-service laptop kiosks will be available soon in the Rivera and Orbach Libraries, starting on Monday, April 15, 2019.

This new program, managed by campus Information Technology Solutions (ITS), will allow current UC Riverside students to check out laptop computers for up to 24 hours with a swipe of their R'Card.

In the recent library student survey, one student commented, "I would really benefit from the establishing a more reasonable way to check out laptops." Another said, "I think it would be useful to students if they had more laptops and computers to use."

This solution may be exactly what students like these are looking for.

In the future,  ITS may expand the service to additional locations on campus, depending on user demand.

At this time, the Laptops Anytime program is not available to UCR faculty, staff, or community users -- only to currently registered UCR students. However, UCR staff and faculty can still check out laptops by visiting the Circulation / Reserves Desk in either library.

ITS has prepared this knowledge base article, which includes a how-to guide and FAQ about this new service. The full terms and conditions are also available online.
